Scary pumpkin pops are a fun treat for the fall. I made them last year for a bake sale, and they were very popular! Assembly takes a bit of time, but is not difficult.
To make these, you’ll need the following supplies:
Oreos or other sandwich-style cookie
Orange candy melting wafers
Lollipop sticks
Candy eyeballs – assorted sizes
Black writing icing – in a tube with a small tip
White Jimmies candy sprinkles
Wax paper
Optional: cellophane bags and curling ribbon
The first step is to gently separate the Oreos, placing a lollipop stick into the cream filling. Next, dab a bit of melted chocolate in the center, replace cookie and allow chocolate to cool.
Once all of the cookies have sticks, prepare a bowl of melted candy wafers deep enough for dipping. You’ll need to reheat the chocolate on a regular basis to ensure that it stays melted. Dip each cookie, using a spoon if needed to ensure all sides are covered, and lay them on wax paper to cool.
Before the chocolate hardens, place two candy eyeballs of different sizes on each pumpkin.
Once all the pops with eyes have cooled, you can use the writing icing to draw and fill in a half-circle mouth. Before the icing hardens completely, use the white Jimmie sprinkles to make the teeth.
If you are making these for a group function or bake sale, use a small cellophane bag and secure with a piece of curling ribbon.
I really like these Oreo pops, as they can be adapted to any holiday or event, and are pretty easy to make. And with the variety of candy decorations available, the options for design are really endless. I also made a batch for the Fourth of July that I write about here: https://www.tickledpinklife.com/2017/07/patriotic-oreo-pops/
I hope this season finds you discovering creative ways to celebrate!
